Lately we are witnessing an unprecedented attack on science in the US. These attacks also affect the international scientific field and other communities. This is not an isolated event, and Europe is moving to the same direction.
We invite everyone to sign our science solidarity statement!

@ScientistRebellion_NL Let's see if the majority in #Europe understands that this is THE chance to create welthfare for the next 50 to 100 years. Last time that happened, it were the Nazis in Germany expelling the intellectual elite. That created a boost in development, companies and progress in the #USA Now #Trupm and #Musk do us the favour to offer us to close the gap we since then had to live with.
@ralph @ScientistRebellion_NL The fascisation process happening now in the US is taking place also in Europe today, just meed to see the rise of the far-right in many EU countries. The budget cuts in higher education in the Netherlands is a clear example that Europe is not "taking a chance" but following the same pattern.
It is perhaps time to consider that neither US or EU are supposedly scientists safehavens
@ralph @ScientistRebellion_NL To be clear, I do wish safety for all and that's why I support SR's letter. What I do not agree with is an opportunistic vision of the situation. It is neither about us vs the US, or Europe vs the resy of the world, but trully people against fascism and the elite that supports it
@bamyeferment @ScientistRebellion_NL I agree to nearly everything you wrote. But to call #Musk part of some kind of elite, I disagree. An elite is a group of exeptional people. And is not make you exceptional to be rich. Therefor you need to have done something exceptional. Donald Knut I would call an member of the intellectual elite for example.
@ralph @ScientistRebellion_NL I believe it depends on what we define as elite. But I agree that Musk doesn't shine by his discoveries, but more in his ability to steal the work from his employees and collaborators
@ScientistRebellion_NL This American scientist thanks you and fellow signers profoundly. I was unable to find the signing form, presumably because the letter is written to and by non-US scientists. Please let me know if I am wrong and there is a way for me, as an American, to sign this letter.

Could it be that it is blocked in the US?
@ScientistRebellion_NL @DemocracyMattersALot Having taught college science (astronomy and physics) for thirty years I can tell you college administrators started the assault long before it became public by giving in to whiny students who parroted their parents’ nonsense. No one cared when we sounded the alarms.
