SR X INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
For decades, the planet has been exploited w/out limits in the name of "progress", leaving a devastating impact that affects, above all, the most vulnerable groups. Women, under a capitalist system, have been systematically oppressed.
1/8
This intersection between the exploitation of nature and the oppression of women is the axis of ecofeminism, a movement that connects the fight for social justice with the defense of the planet.
2/8
Ecofeminism criticizes an economic model that treats nature as an infinite resource & that puts capital accumulation above human needs. This system is based on the free work of women and the exploitation of ecosystems, perpetuating social, racial, & gender inequalities.
3/8
This oppression does not affect all women in the same way: depending on class or ethnicity, inequalities take on different nuances. Environmental racism concentrates pollution in vulnerable communities, where indigenous women lead struggles against toxic waste .
4/8
Women have always protected biodiversity, although their contributions have been made invisible. Ecofeminism challenges traditional environmental disciplines, such as conservation biology, proposing a more ethical and community-based approach.
5/8
The figures are overwhelming: 67% of illiterate people in the world are women; they earn less than men and they are still subject to patriarchal laws that limit their rights. These structural inequalities reinforce the need for global ecofeminism.
6/8
Ecofeminism proposes changing the current economic paradigm to one based on provisioning: a model meeting human needs through solidarity, sufficiency and respect for nature. This economy breaks with market logic and prioritizes the most vulnerable.
7/8
In the context of environmental & social crisis, ecofeminism invites us to rethink the current system to build a more just & sustainable future. The solution is not in exploitation but in care and respect for life. Will you join the transformation?
