Today marks the UN International Day for Education. Let's not forget the stark inequalities that exist in education worldwide. 25% of primary schools lack access to basic necessities like electricity and water. #education #inequality (1/5)
The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the educational inequalities as many schools were forced to close for face-to-face teaching. Meanwhile, the richest 1% captured twice as much new wealth as the 99%. #education #inequality (2/5)
Oxfam estimates that a 5% wealth tax on the world's multi-millionaires and billionaires could raise enough money to lift 2 billion people out of poverty. It's time for the rich to pay their fair share. #wealthtax #taxtherich (3/5)
The climate crisis is also a crisis of inequality, with the richest 1% contributing substantially more per capita emissions. Let's follow the lead of activists like Greta Thunberg and use our schools and universities as places for change. #education #climatecrisis (4/5)
Our universities must be accessible to all and must not invest in industries that harm the common good, such as the fossil fuel industry or the arms trade. Let's work towards a more just and equitable society. #education #inequality (5/5)
@ScientistRebellion we need to stop saying 1%. It's a trick of the supervastlyultrarich to get people to focus on highly paid professionals rather than owners of vast empires of capital.
@ScientistRebellion I'm sure those can'ts will disagree.
@ScientistRebellion Money doesn't grow on rich people, it grows on the governments who issue it. We should tax the rich to reduce their power, yes, but it won't raise any money.
All governments with their own currency are self-funding. They can credit whichever accounts they wish, with any amount, at any time, on whomever's whim has the authority to "make it so".
Trust me, I revolutionized physics. Do you think I travelled all this way from your past for no reason? Oy vey.
